Instructions for use of CARP PG™ injection
1. Product introduction
Common Carp Pituitary (CARP PG), also known as carp pituitary, is used for artificial breeding of different farmed fish to induce ovulation and/or spawning. Ovulation is induced by injecting carp pituitary extract into the back muscles of females and males.
2. Preparation of injection
2.1 Preparation of solvent
Use physiological saline (0.7% sodium chloride solution), medical water for injection or distilled water.
2.2 Dosage calculation
The dosage per kilogram of fish is 0.15mg±10%, which is ground into micro powder and dissolved.
2.3 Preparation method
The dosage for one injection shall not exceed 5 ml.
Prepare and use immediately to prevent failure.
3. Injection method
3.1 Injection type
One injection method: suitable for the situation where the broodstock is well mature and the water temperature is suitable.
Two injection method: suitable for early induced spawning or the situation where the broodstock is not mature enough, with high spawning rate, egg production and fertilization rate.
3.2 Injection interval
The interval between the two injections is 6 to 24 hours. When the water temperature is low or the broodstock is not mature enough, the interval is longer.
3.3 Dose calculation
Before injection, use a fish clip to extract the broodstock and weigh them to calculate the actual dose to be injected
3.4 Injection operation
Use a 5 ml, 10 ml syringe or a veterinary continuous syringe with a needle of 6 to 8.
Injection sites include thoracic injection, intraperitoneal injection and intramuscular injection.
After injection, quickly pull out the needle and disinfect the injection port with iodine.
3.5 Injection angle and depth
Chest injection: The needle is inserted at an angle of 45 to 60 degrees to the front of the fish body and the body axis, with a depth of about 1 cm.
Intraperitoneal injection: The injection angle is 30 to 45 degrees and the depth is 1 to 2 cm.
Intramuscular injection: At the full muscle below the dorsal fin, pierce the muscle 1 to 2 cm forward along the scales.
3.6 Determination of injection time
Determine the injection time according to the weather, water temperature and effect time.
One-time injection is usually done in the afternoon, and spawning occurs the next morning.
For the double injection method, the first injection is done at around 9 am, and the second injection is done at 6-8 am on the same day.
3.7 Effect time
The time required for the broodstock to start estrus after the injection of the oxytocin varies from a few hours to more than 20 hours.
The length of the effect time is mainly determined by the water temperature. The higher the water temperature, the shorter the effect time, and vice versa.
4. Precautions
When preparing the injection solution, the injection dose per broodstock should be controlled to no more than 5 ml.
The injection solution needs to be more than the total amount to make up for the loss during injection and preparation.
If the fish struggles and stirs during injection, the needle should be pulled out quickly to avoid hurting the fish.
